Week Five - Remembering God's Presence
Reminder: Watch this video the week of Jan 28 - Feb 3

Jesus was rejected–over and over–and at the point he needed them the most, he experienced rejection and abandonment from those closest to him. You'll find this week's session remarkably poignant; and you'll be encouraged to know that even when we may not immediately sense his Presence in our lives; he is still there. He never leaves, he never abandons, he never rejects or gives up. As a matter of fact, as we'll see again this week, he is praying for you right now!

Scripture of the Week

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

~Romans 8:34-35; 37-39 (NIV)

Discussion / Journaling Questions

We sincerely believe this six-week online study will encourage and refresh you in deep and meaningful ways as you discover fresh insights into God's love for you, and his faithfulness to you.

Take time over the next few weeks, to allow the deeply personal insights of Lysa; set against the unique background of some key places from the pages of Scripture, to minister to your heart and soul.

And let us encourage you, after watching each weeks' video teaching segment (and reading the corollary readings in the book and study guide if you've purchased those); to review the discussion/journaling questions we provide. If you're doing this study "solo", let these prompt you in your prayer time, as you journal, or simply to ponder during your study time. If you are in a group setting for this study (face-to-face with others, or via social media or online tools); you may wish to discuss these with others in your "group".

Questions to ponder, journal, or discuss with others enjoying this study with you:

  1. As you've been reminded in this week's session; Jesus has you on his prayer list. Can you share (or jot down if you are journaling this lesson) a few things you want Jesus to be praying for you about this week?
  2. Have you felt the pain of rejection, abandonment and disappointment at the hands of others; perhaps those closest to you; as Jesus did? If so, can you take a few minutes now and do what Jesus did for those that so treated him, and pray for those that have hurt you?
  3. Why is it so insightful and helpful to link these two great stories in Mark 6 (verses 30-52) together and view them in the context of occurring in the same day and night?
  4. Three great questions Lysa poses at the end of this week's segment:
    1. Have I sought out God's truth regarding this situation? (Information phase)
    2. Have I applied God's truth without compromise to this situation? (Application phase)
    3. Do I now own this truth, as personal revelation from God, to use in future situations like this? (Transformation phase)
  5. How will your story be different as a result of what you've gleaned from this week's lesson on these episodes in the lives of the disciples?
