Lysa Terkeurst

Online Bible Study

with Lysa Terkeurst

Week Two - Empty or Full?
Reminder: Watch this video the week of Jan 7 - Jan 13

Week Two's session is filmed literally in the place that Jesus stood, an area between Anna's house and the house of Caiaphas, the High Priest in Jerusalem at the time of Christ's arrest. We'll walk with Peter through both the darkest night of his denial of Jesus, and also the glorious morning of his restoration when he shared breakfast on the beach with his Savior. You will be encouraged, and inspired once again as Lysa shares with us this week...

Scripture of the Week

"Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my sheep."

~John 21:17(b) (NIV)

Discussion / Journaling Questions

We sincerely believe this six-week online study will encourage and refresh you in deep and meaningful ways as you discover fresh insights into God's love for you, and his faithfulness to you.

Take time over the next few weeks, to allow the deeply personal insights of Lysa; set against the unique background of some key places from the pages of Scripture, to minister to your heart and soul.

And let us encourage you, after watching each weeks' video teaching segment (and reading the corollary readings in the book and study guide if you've purchased those); to review the discussion/journaling questions we provide. If you're doing this study "solo", let these prompt you in your prayer time, as you journal, or simply to ponder during your study time. If you are in a group setting for this study (face-to-face with others, or via social media or online tools); you may wish to discuss these with others in your "group".

Questions to ponder, journal, or discuss with others enjoying this study with you:

  1. Have you ever had an experience where you, like Peter, have known that you have disappointed Jesus in some way (Luke 22:61)?
  2. Don't overlook the fact that in John 21:15-17, Jesus asked Peter (three times), if he loved Him. He never asked Peter if he loved "sheep" (Peter was a fisherman, and fishermen traditionally hated sheep!). What does this tell you about the basis from which Jesus expects us to accept and love others?
  3. Jesus asked Peter if he loved him "more than these". He may have waved His hand around to encompass Peter's boat and the sea. What would your "more than these" encompass, in relation to your love for Jesus?
  4. In light of today's session, do you consider yourself to have more a "fisherman heart", or a "shepherd heart"?
